This green smoothie bowl contains leafy greens which help detox while providing other nutrients. It also has turmeric and cinnamon both of which have anti-inflammatory benefits.
What is a smoothie bowl ?
A smoothie bowl is essentially a thicker version of a smoothie. The process of making one is exactly the same as making a normal smoothie just less liquid.
What you’ll need for this green smoothie bowl:
Frozen Mango: Frozen fruit is a crucial part of smoothies as it adds creaminess to your smoothie. Mangos in particular have their own special health benefits such as vitamin C and antioxidants which prevent sun damage and aging prematurely.
Baby Spinach: Some studies have shown baby spinach to reduce the risk of certain cancers such as ovarian, endometrial, lug and colorectal cancer. It also contains high levels of zeaxanthin which protect the retina in eyes.
Kale: This leafy green helps to lower cholesterol and reduces the risk of heart disease. It also contains nutrients such as potassium, fiber, folate and calcium.
Green Apples: Apples help regulate gut health.
Ground cinnamon: A great spice that helps with reducing inflammation which also protects the cardiovascular system. Cinnamon also helps to fight infections and repair tissue damage.
Ground Tumeric: Is root is a main source of curcumin a anti-inflammatory nutrient that helps with joint pain, arthritis, and many other inflammation related issues.
Chia seeds: Chia seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids a big player in the protection of the brain and heart.
Coconut Milk: Coconut milk boosts the immunity system and metabolism. It also contains electrolytes that nourish your gut as well as antioxidants, which slow down the aging process and prevent certain cancers. There are also antioxidants that reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and alzheimer’s.
Tehini or Nut Butter: Both of these are great sources of protein.
Avocado: Avocados have many health benefits such as supporting fetal health and reducing depression. They also work to increase libido, sexual performance and to naturally detoxify your body.
Carrots: As everyone is aware carrots are great for eye health but they also contain vitamin C which reduces inflammation and stress.
Kiwi: Everyone always looks to carrots for eye health but it seems kiwi’s might be a better place to search. They contain high levels of lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamin A. All of these nutrients are present in human eyes and beneficial for eye health. kiwi are also rich in vitamin C, copper, and vitamin K.
Water: Because smoothie bowls are thicker than normal smoothies you may need a little extra liquid to help your blender blend properly.
Tips:
Water ~ One can use water instead of coconut milk if you want. You should also add small amounts of water to your blender and use more than recommended if you want a less thick smoothie bowl
Turmeric: If you’ve never had turmeric or simply do not like the taste of it you can leave it out. It has a very strong taste and it can be a shock if you’ve never had it before.
